This Research theme comprises five multiple sub-projects that collectively aim to identify and evaluate effective, safe, and feasible treatment approaches for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders, and to elucidate the underlying biological mechanisms.
This research theme aims to investigate extracts and compounds from Chinese herbal medicines with anti-obesity potential. Additionally, we propose a smart nanoparticle delivery system to enhance the target effect of this compound.
This research theme aims to (1) investigate the prevalence rate of the osteoarthritis among elderly and the overweight or obese individuals in community of Hong Kong; (2) investigate how articular endogenous glucocorticoid signalling is dysregulated during obesity development and aging and its contribution to osteoarthritis; and (3) evaluate the therapeutic effect of extracts from Chinese herbal medicinescurcumin osteoarthritis in obese mice and aging mice, respectively.
